Picked & Forgotten
This ongoing project explores the lives of African & Asian migrant workers in and around Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, in rural agriculture and other working fields, abandoned by most Europeans. It quietly seeks to critique a system that tolerates ‘invisible’ labor and inequality, restricted freedom and limited autonomy, even in open spaces. The series highlights how much of the world depends on unseen, unrecognized labor, encouraging a deeper examination of who gets the opportunity to advance, who remains stagnant, who controls social dynamics as well as the moral and ethical price we pay for it.
